- If there is any chance termites are coming from your property, call us for an inspection as the damage termites are capable of can be enormous. Our exterminators use unmarked vehicles to protect your privacy.
- If the termites appear to be coming from a neighboring property, inform your neighbor about it immediately and please pass along our information. If the property is wooded or natural, or the swarms happen regularly, you will want to arrange for annual inspections.
Inspections and Identifying Termites
Homeowners should always have regular inspections of their property for a variety of reasons, including pests. With termites, look for mud tubes, sawdust, paint bubbles on walls, or small holes in exposed wood. Termite colonies are normally built underground, often near sources of food, in this case wood. The termites then burrow into your home to feed on the available wood.
Like ant colonies, termite colonies have a variety of workers suited to their function: nymphs, soldiers, and workers. Nymphs develop into alates, sometimes called swarmers. They are reproductively mature termites with wings that swarm in the spring season to found new colonies. They can be mistaken for winged ants and are a key warning sign of property infestations.
Termite soldiers have larger heads and jaws, have dark brown jaws , and cannot fly or feed themselves. They may be mistaken for ants or carpenter ants.
Termite workers are smaller and cream colored ,their job is feeding the colony, tending to larvae, and building the mud tunnels to and from food sources as well as for the colony itself.
